US citizens dying in Mexico

Mexico, not a safe place for Americans...Honestly not a safe place for Mexicans either.

So why is their so many Americans being killed in Mexico and nothing being said in the MSM? are they not High Profile deaths? Not enough controversy surrounding their deaths?
or is it more of the same BS of not saying anything other than Mexico is a beautiful and safe place to visit?

El Paso Times
Homicide was the leading cause of death for 119 U.S. citizens who died in Mexico and were reported to the U.S. State Department between Jan. 1 and June 30, according to statistics.
Sixty-five Americans died as a result of shootings and other violent crimes; 12 of them were killed in Juárez and 13 in Tijuana. Both are border cities with high levels of drug violence.
One homicide of a U.S. citizen was reported during that period in Meoqui, Chihuahua, and another one died in a vehicle accident, also in Chihuahua.
"The number of U.S. citizens reported to the Department of State as murdered in Mexico increased from 35 in 2007 to 111 in 2010," the State Department said in a statement.
Figures suggest that homicides involving U.S. citizens could surpass last year's total.

American hikers taken hostage 'because of their nationality'

Glad to see them home, now if they could stop with the America sucks innuendos it would be a lot better for them.

"The only explanation for our prolonged detention is the 32 years of mutual hostility between America and Iran"

Really? why does America have the hostility towards Iran Dipshit?

I guess we should not be hostile to a country that would like to see us disappear as a country, and 32 years ago took 52 American hostages and held them for 444 days !

Hey jackass, I hear there are some nice hiking trails in Afghanistan, why don't you and your other rejects go hike around there and see how you come out of that one !

The Telegraph
Hikers, Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal say they believe they were imprisoned as hostages because of their nationality, not because they may have illegally strayed across the Iranian border.

The pair were detained in July 2009 along the Iran-Iraq border and maintain they were only hiking in Iraq's relatively peaceful Kurdish region and may have wrongly ended up in Iran.
Speaking after their arrival in New York, Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer said their detention was, "never about crossing the unmarked border between Iran and Iraq."
Shane Bauer said, "We were held because of our nationality" not because they unknowingly crossed into Iran.
"The only explanation for our prolonged detention is the 32 years of mutual hostility between America and Iran, " Bauer added.

US citizen kidnapped from his Lahore residence

Fox news is saying his last name is Weinstein.
doesn't sound good as they tortured his guards before taking him.

Dawn.com

LAHORE: An American citizen was kidnapped from his residence in Lahore on Saturday, police said.

Police identified the man as “J.E. Warner”, who they said was working on a development project in the country’s tribal areas, where Pakistani troops have been battling insurgents for years.

A US Embassy spokesman said they were trying to confirm the reports.

“Some six to eight people broke into his house at around 3:30 a.m., when security guards on duty were making preparation for fasting,” police official Tajamal Hussain told Reuters.

“Two of the assailants came from the front gate while about six others used the backdoor. They tortured the guards and then took the American with them.”

Hussain said Warner, in his 60s, had been living in Pakistan for five to six years. He mostly lived in Islamabad but had been travelling to Lahore.

Another official said they had no details about the kidnappers.

Why Americans still go to Mexico and hang out in the Worst city there, Ciudad Juarez.
Americans are targets outside the United States, Unfortunately, and you put your life at risk when you choose of your own free will to go to these parts of the world that love to kill and exploit Americans.

Foxnews
A Texas court interpreter who was kidnapped this month was found dead in Mexico after relatives failed to pay a $10,000 ransom, authorities said.

Jorge Luis Dieppa, who worked as a Spanish interpreter at the U.S. District Court's El Paso Division since 2004, also worked as a part-time lecturer in the languages and linguistics department at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), according to a school spokeswoman.

He was discovered stabbed repeatedly and bound with duct tape, according to the releases, which did not identify Dieppa by name.

US calls for release of citizen 'held in North Korea'

The main Question here, Why was this American in North Korean Territory?

Probably the stupidest move they ever made, and now we have to pay millions of dollars in taxes to help get this Jackass out of the North Korean Hell hole.

Can we prosecute them in the U.S for extreme stupidity?

BBC
The US state department says an American citizen is being held in North Korea, and is calling for the person's release on humanitarian grounds.

No details have been given about the American's identity or the circumstances of the arrest.

The news comes ahead of a scheduled visit to Seoul this weekend by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Efforts to ease tensions on the Korean peninsula are continuing, after two military attacks last year.

The state department is refusing to answer questions about the detained citizen - such as who are they? What were they doing in North Korea? When, where and why were they arrested? - because it says the individual has not signed a privacy waiver.

American on murder charges again held in Pakistan

Two more weeks, and at the end of that?

(Reuters) - A Pakistani court jailed an American, accused of murdering two Pakistani men during what he said was an attempted robbery, for 14 more days on Friday, dragging out a diplomatic row between the troubled allies.

Raymond Davis, a U.S. embassy employee who Washington says has diplomatic immunity, shot and killed two Pakistani men on January 27 in Lahore in what he and the United States say was self-defense.

Pakistan has questioned his diplomatic status and has detained Davis on remand since the incident, infuriating the United States. Washington says his continued detention is a violation of international treaties.

"He has been sent to Kot Lakhpat jail on a 14-day judicial remand," Abdul Samad, deputy prosecutor general, told reporters, referring to the city's main prison. Police will continue their investigation, he said.

Iran opens trial of US 'hikers'

I wish these guys all the luck with the fair trial they are going to receive in Iran !
Uh, well I wish them luck.

Al Jizz era
An Iranian court has begun closed-door proceedings in the espionage trial of three Americans, two still in custody and one freed on bail.

The trial on Sunday of Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal, along with that of Sarah Shourd, who was released on $500,000 bail in September, comes 18 months after they were arrested on July 31 2009 near Iran's border with Iraq.

The three, in their late twenties and early thirties, say they were hiking in the mountains of northern Iraq and crossed the unmarked border by mistake.

Iran held them on suspicion of spying, a crime which can carry the death penalty.

Barack Obama, the US president, met Shourd on her return to the United States, an event he called "bittersweet" due to the continued detention of the other two, one of whom is Shourd's fiance.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, suggested last February that the Americans might be released as part of a prisoner swap for Iranians he says were abducted or tricked into going to the United States and jailed without due legal process.
