The Israeli delegation to the United Nations announced Monday that it will file a complaint to the UN Security Council against Syria and Lebanon regarding Sunday's Nakba Day border clashes, Army Radio reported.

Earlier, the Lebanese delegation to the UN filed a complaint against Israel after the Lebanese army said that 10 people were killed and 112 were wounded in Maroun a-Ras when IDF troops opened fire on demonstrators trying to cross the border.

Beirut officials called on the UN to "denounce this act of violence and Israel's disregard for Lebanese sovereignty and UN resolutions."

Two demonstrators were killed in clashes near Majdal Shams on the Syrian border and between three and 10 people were killed in Maroun a-Ras on the Lebanese border.

Calm returns to Lebanon after days of protests over Hezbollah power play

Yeah this uprising has calmed down for a minute, But Hezbollah will not let it rest for to long.

Expect to see more.

Lebanon security officials reopened all roads and remove barriers across the country, after thousands of Sunnis poured into the streets to protest against the new prime minister chosen by Hezbollah and its allies.

Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati is set to begin the process of forming a new Cabinet and is scheduled to visit former premiers later Wednesday.

Hezbollah and its allies ousted the Western-backed government two weeks ago by quitting the Cabinet.

Mikati, a billionaire businessman, has called for a unity government.

Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets across the country over the last two days, burning tires, throwing rocks and accusing Hezbollah of a coup d'etat.

Security officials said Wednesday that army and police forces would prevent any road closures. They spoke on condition of anonymity, in line with regulations.

Israel troops on alert after Lebanon govt falls

Nice eh? Hezbollah Pulls out of the Lebanese Government and wreaks Havoc on the whole region.

Guaranteed Israel will not sit by with its hands tied if Hezbollah decides to get a little froggy.

Foxnews
JERUSALEM – Israeli troops in the north were on alert Thursday over worries that the political turmoil in Lebanon might spill over into renewed violence on their shared border, following the collapse of the Lebanese government.

The Iranian-backed Hezbollah militant group and its allies threw the already volatile Lebanon into chaos on Wednesday by pulling out of the government and causing it to collapse.

Hezbollah, which clashed with Israel in a monthlong war in 2006, bolted over the government continued cooperation with a U.N. tribunal investigating the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

Hezbollah expects the tribunal to indict some of its members. It timed the dissolution of the government to coincide with the White House visit of the current prime minister, Hariri's son Saad.

A senior officer in Israel's northern command said commanders were following events in Lebanon very closely for any sign Hezbollah might try to heat up the already jittery northern border to deflect attention from the political turmoil.

U.S. Drops Hold on Aid to Lebanese Military

Another smart move by the Obama Administration?

Hezbollah will be getting some more funding soon !

Foxnews
WASHINGTON—U.S. lawmakers lifted a congressional hold on $100 million in military assistance for Lebanon's armed forces, as the Obama administration moved to bolster Beirut's pro-Western government.

In recent weeks, the militant Lebanese organization, Hezbollah, has issued increasing threats against Prime Minister Saad Hariri amid reports that a United Nations-backed court is preparing to indict Hezbollah members for the 2005 murder of Mr. Hariri's father, former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

Washington has provided Lebanon's military with an estimated $720 million in aid since 2006 in an effort to develop the institution as a counterweight to Hezbollah, which receives its arms and funding from Iran and Syria, and has grown as a political force with seats in the Lebanese government.

"We reviewed our assistance to Lebanon and concluded that it is vital, given ongoing challenges to the Lebanese state from Hezbollah and others," State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said Friday.

His death just signifies one less Islamic reject walking the Earth !

BBC
Lebanon's top Shia Muslim cleric, seen as a key figure in the founding of militant group Hezbollah, has died at the age of 74.

Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah was regarded as Hezbollah's spiritual guide after the group was founded in 1982, a charge both denied.

An implacable critic of the US, he had a wide following among Shias and backed the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.

But he was known among Shias for his moderate social views.

He held particularly progressive views on the role of women in Islamic society.
