Yeah I Know, it is not a big deal, But do you Know that the Cadmium and lead will leach through the Cheap Glasses, And if your kids hands are a little wet from say sweating, the Lead and Cadmium will leach into their skin also. Building up in their bodies and staying with them forever.

Drinking glasses depicting comic book and movie characters such as Superman, Wonder Woman and the Tin Man from "The Wizard of Oz" exceed federal limits for lead in children's products by up to 1,000 times, according to laboratory testing commissioned by The Associated Press.

The decorative enamel on the superhero and Oz sets -- made in China and purchased at a Warner Brothers Studios store in Burbank -- contained between 16 percent and 30.2 percent lead. The federal limit on children's products is 0.03 percent.

The same glasses also contained relatively high levels of the even-more-dangerous cadmium, though there are no federal limits on that toxic metal in design surfaces.

And that goes to show you how much our idiotic Government cares, It is alright for our kinds to touch the #7 most toxic substance according to the CDC.

Barbie Manufacturer Fined Record $2.3 Million for Importing Hazardous Toys From China

For an American company to knowingly import lead tainted toys , A 2.3 million dollar fine is nothing ! It should have been ten times that at least ! And for China Again using lead paint on products that they ship to the U.S. , They should never be able to import another Product Here again !

California-based Mattel, Inc., and its Fisher-Price subsidiary will pay $2.3 million for knowingly importing and later recalling approximately 2 million lead-tainted toys. The penalty, imposed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is the highest ever given for violating import and distribution regulations in the country.

According to CPSC, Mattel imported 900,000 toys with hazardous levels of lead between September 2006 and August 2007. The toys were distributed to retail customers in the United States. Later, the “Sarge” cars identified as non-compliant were withdrawn from the market. The same happened to the “Barbie” toys, recalled in September 2007.
