Guidelines issued to police say they should not ask women to remove their veils in the street, but should escort them to a police station where they would be asked to uncover their faces for identification.
Oh yeah, and the first time they actually haul a Burqa wearing woman into the police station look out for the Muslim Outrage that follows.
I'm all for anything that generally irritates Muslims, honestly, anything that irritates any group of people that think they are Superior to another goes over well with me. the response always shows the truth in how they really are.
BBC
A law has come into force in France which makes it an offence for a Muslim woman to conceal her face behind a veil when in public.
Anyone caught breaking the law will be liable to a fine of 150 euros (£133, $217) and a citizenship course.
People forcing women to wear the veil face a much larger fine and a prison sentence of up to two years.
France is the first country in Europe to publicly ban a form of dress some Muslims regard as a religious duty.
Under the law, any woman - French or foreign - walking on the street or in a park in France and wearing a face-concealing veil such as the niqab or burka can be stopped by police and given a fine.
It is a small fine, but symbolically this is a huge change, says the BBC's Hugh Schofield in Paris.

Syria bans face veils at universities
No matter how much Syria tries , They will still be looked upon as Terrorists .
But it is funny that a Muslim country along with a Cleric are banning Face veils .
BBC
Female students wearing a full face veil will be barred from Syrian university campuses, the country's minister of higher education has said.
Ghiyath Barakat was reported to have said that the practice ran counter to the academic values and traditions of Syrian universities.
His ruling, published on the All4Syria website, was said to be in response to requests from students and parents.
The issue of full face veils has caused controversy in other countries.
"This decision could be seen as a step by the government to enforce its secular identity."
In 2009, Egypt's then foremost Muslim cleric, Sheikh Mohammed Sayed Tantawi, barred female students from wearing the full-face veil at the al-Azhar University, Sunni Islam's centre of learning and scholarship.
He also upset other Muslim scholars by saying French Muslims should obey any law that France might enact banning the veil.

French MPs vote to ban Islamic full veil in public
Andre Gerin of the Communist opposition compared the veil to "a walking coffin, a muzzle".
A walking Coffin ! that's a good one .
So now the waiting game , September's not far away , And I'm sure that preparations for some Rioting are being taken .
BBC
France's lower house of parliament has overwhelmingly approved a bill that would ban wearing the Islamic full veil in public.
There were 335 votes for the bill and only one against in the 557-seat National Assembly.
It must now be ratified by the Senate in September to become law.
The ban has strong public support but critics point out that only a tiny minority of French Muslims wear the full veil.
Many of the opposition Socialists, who originally wanted the ban limited only to public buildings, abstained from voting after coming under pressure from feminist supporters of the bill.
President Nicolas Sarkozy has backed the ban as part of a wider debate on French identity but critics say the government is pandering to far-right voters.
After the vote, Justice Minister Michele Alliot-Marie said it was a victory for democracy and for French values.
"Values of freedom against all the oppressions which try to humiliate individuals; values of equality between men and women, against those who push for inequality and injustice."
