Lunar orbiter photographs Apollo landing sites

And people will still call it a hoax , even though you can plainly see that the lander is there ! either way it's very cool ! cnet

Forty years after the Apollo 11 voyage to the moon, NASA released photographs from the new Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter spacecraft Friday showing five of the six Apollo landing sites. Shadows cast by the Apollo descent stages are clearly visible and in some cases, the moon walkers' paths can be seen in the disturbed dust.
"We were very interested in getting our first peek at the lunar module descent stages just for the thrill - and to see how well the cameras had come into focus," Mark Robinson, principal investigator of the LRO's main camera, said in a statement. "Indeed, the images are fantastic and so is the focus."

The Apollo 11, 14, 15, 16, and 17 landing sites were photographed between July 11 and 15. The Apollo 12 landing site will be imaged during upcoming orbits.
Launched June 18, the Lunar Reconnaissance orbiter braked into an initially elliptical orbit around the moon on June 23. It eventually will be maneuvered into a circular 31-mile-high orbit, allowing it to photograph surface features - including the Apollo landing sites - with three times greater resolution than the pictures released Friday.

Mexican troops fan out across state hit by drug war

Mexico Has become such a joke , the Military is in no way Discouraging the Cartels , the Body count has hit double digits regularly , and everyone in Mexico is still Afraid of doing anything ! And at the same time we are being told that Mexico is a wonderful place to go right now ! good old tourist disinformation !

NUEVA ITALIA, Mexico (Reuters) - Hundreds of heavily armed soldiers set up roadblocks on major highways in the home state of President Felipe Calderon on Saturday where drug gangs have stepped up attacks on Mexican security forces.

Troops toting automatic weapons and wearing ski masks to shield their identity searched vehicles in the western marijuana-growing state of Michoacan for signs of drug smuggling after the government ordered 5,500 soldiers and police deploy by land, sea and air to the area.

The surge, one of the biggest in the three-year drug war, came after drug gangs targeted federal police in recent days in retaliation for the capture of a high-ranking member of the local La Familia (The Family) cartel.

In a brazen move last week, the cartel dumped the tortured and blood-smeared bodies of 12 police in a heap by a remote highway -- the latest victims of tit for tat violence that has killed some 12,800 people since Calderon took office in 2006.

A video allegedly showing the policemen being stripped, beaten and executed was briefly posted on YouTube, reported El Universal newspaper.

"We've reached a point where the local authorities are tapped out, and so unfortunately it's necessary to call in extra forces to try and restore the peace to Michoacan," said Gerardo Gomez a resident of the capital city Morelia where suspected drug gang hitmen threw two grenades into a packed crowd celebrating Mexico's independence day last September.

China says police shot dead 12 Uighurs this month

from everything that I have read about this , I am surprised that more were not killed ! ( including those on the Han side ) , As for China admitting to something , What a shock !
URUMQI, China (Reuters) - Chinese police shot dead 12 Uighur rioters in Xinjiang this month, regional governor Nuer Baikeli said on Saturday, in a rare government admission of deaths inflicted by security forces.

In Xinjiang's worst ethnic unrest in decades, Uighurs attacked majority Han Chinese in regional capital Urumqi on July 5 after taking to the streets to protest against an ethnic clash at a factory in south China in June which left two Uighurs dead.

The violence left 197 people dead and more than 1,600 wounded, mostly Han Chinese who launched revenge attacks in Urumqi days later. About 1,000 people, mostly Uighurs, have been detained in an ensuing government crackdown.

Asked to elaborate on the casualties, the governor said most of the victims sustained head wounds after they were bludgeoned with bricks and iron rods.

Police shot dead 12 armed Uighurs attacking civilians and ransacking shops after they ignored warning shots fired into the air, said Nuer Baikeli, a Uighur, a Turkic people who are largely Muslim and share linguistic and cultural bonds with Central Asia.

Of the 12, three were killed on the spot, while nine died either on their way to or after arriving at hospital.

Right to Equality ?

This is from an Opinion piece I read , from Pakistan ! Transvestites ! I did not Know Pakistan had such a Tranny problem , so much that their supreme court is making way for protection of their rights ! I could really care , Except for this ,

"Discriminated against by virtually every section of society, this group of people is separated from the mainstream because of a backward societal mindset and lack of awareness about physical and emotional gender-related conditions "

So the Transvestite loving Jackass , that wrote this piece believes that all people that are not trannies , Are assbackwards in their "Normal" lifestyle ! And should embrace the "Not normal " Transsexual Lifestyle ! Oh what a twisted world , Tranny good , Homosexual good , Normal man woman relationship BAD ! I just don't get it ! Dawn.com

IN a country where the rights of citizens are abused routinely, the importance of the recent Supreme Court decree that the federal and provincial governments take steps to protect the rights of transvestites is welcome. Discriminated against by virtually every section of society, this group of people is separated from the mainstream because of a backward societal mindset and lack of awareness about physical and emotional gender-related conditions — it must be remembered that the term ‘transvestite’ is used generally in Pakistan to describe hermaphrodites, eunuchs, cross-dressers etc. These people are often forced into the lowest strata of society, subjected to mental and sexual abuse and denied their right to education and employment. Indeed, it is not unknown for families to wash their hands of the responsibility of raising children with gender-related physical abnormalities by handing them over to ‘gurus’, or leaders of ‘transvestite’ gangs, to be raised as prostitutes, beggars or dancers. In the absence of a law or a sizeable forum actively reiterating their rights, these people have been routinely harassed by many, even the police if approached for help.

Transvestite Gangs ? WTF !

I-75 shut down At 9 mile !

HAZEL PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) - The damage is being assessed at 9 Mile Road and I-75 after Wednesday night's massive tanker explosion in Hazel Park.

Northbound and Southbound I-75 is shut down in both directions from 8 mile to I-696 and will remain closed until further notice.

Three vehicles were involved in the accident – the tanker truck, a Meijer semi-truck and a car. The tanker was carrying more than 13,000 gallons of gas and approximately 4,000 gallons of diesel when it exploded right under the 9 Mile overpass.

The intense heat of the explosion forced the overpass to collapse onto the freeway below as hundreds of people watched, stunned by what was happening.

Amazingly, no one was killed. Three people were taken to Beaumont hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They were the 44-year-old tanker driver Michael St. John of Armada, the 38-year-old driver of the Meijer truck Jody Cicero of Monroe, and the 27-year-old driver of the car Saied Haidarian-Shahri of Clawson. All three have been released from the hospital.

Police tell Action News Haidarian-Shahri may have lost control of the vehicle and hit the tanker.

A spy is a spy , and should be treated as one ! When giving our "Enemies" the goods for our space program or any defense issues , Spies should be brought up on charges and the Death penalty should be given ( When found Guilty ) Screw the life sentance B.S !

BBC News
A Chinese-born engineer in the United States has been found guilty of passing space shuttle technology secrets to China, for more than 30 years.

Dongfan "Greg" Chung, 73, is the first person to be found guilty under a federal law, introduced in 1996, to counter economic espionage.

Mr Chung worked for Rockwell International, and then Boeing, until the FBI investigation began in 2006.

He will be sentenced in November, and could spend decades in prison.

A court statement said the judge in California had found Chung guilty of economic espionage, acting as a foreign agent and making false statements to the FBI.

The trial began on 2 June.

Shot Uighurs called for holy war, says China

And the unrest continues ! This is going to boil for Awhile ! Chinas China news.net
Three Uighurs shot by Chinese police in the far western city of Urumqi had tried to take over a prayer meeting and called for a jihad, or holy war, state media said Wednesday.

About 150 people were inside an unnamed mosque on Urumqi's Jiefang Road Monday afternoon when one of the three men tried to grab the microphone from the imam, the official China Daily reported.

The man was stopped but stood up several minutes later, unfurling a green banner, shouting 'jihad' and calling on other Uighurs in the mosque to follow him, the newspaper quoted the imam as saying.

The imam said he ended the prayer session early and ordered the eviction of the man from the mosque, the report said.

Security guards intervened when the man's two accomplices took out long knives and tried to force people to go with them.

As the melee spilled outside the mosque, the three men chased a security guard who was trying to shepherd people away, the guard was quoted as saying.

He said police stopped the group but were forced to shoot the three Uighurs after their warning shots failed to halt the attack on him.

Two of the Uighurs were shot dead and the third was injured, the local government said.

Earlier reports said the three Uighurs were trying to kill passersby near the Urumqi Women and Children's Hospital.

More than 180 people have died and at least 1,700 have been injured in rioting and ethnic clashes since July 5, with about two-thirds of the victims from the majority Han Chinese ethnic group, according to government reports.

Uighur exile groups claim that up to 800 people have died in the violence, many of them Uighurs shot or beaten to death by police.

Of course they do !

Juárez has 23 deaths in 2 days

Despite the killings, Juárez Mayor José Reyes Ferriz said Joint Operation Chihuahua has not been a failure even if the military has been unable to quell bloodshed that has claimed more than 1,000 lives this year.

1000 lives just this year ! yeah that is not a failure ! the Cartels are a little off track for breaking their record this year , so I guess the Military has done something ! The cartels should have at least 1300 under their belt to beat last year ! And giving the last 2 days some credit , They are picking up the Pace !The El Paso Times
The drug war in Chihuahua intensified Tuesday with the slaying of a town mayor, the fatal shooting of a man with press credentials and double-digit homicides for the second day in a row in Juárez.

Despite the killings, Juárez Mayor José Reyes Ferriz said Joint Operation Chihuahua has not been a failure even if the military has been unable to quell bloodshed that has claimed more than 1,000 lives this year.

Reyes, responding to criticism of the federal anti-crime deployment, said the operation has different phases that won't be complete until October, when the growing police force finishes being trained by the Mexican army.

The violence Tuesday reached out to elected leaders when drug traffickers carried out a threat by killing the mayor of the town of Namiquipa in central Chihuahua.
A dozen homicides occurred Monday, and at least 11 killings were tallied as of Tuesday evening, including a man with press credentials.

Also on Tuesday, the body of a man was found in the trunk
of a red Ford Focus with Texas plates after residents reported the stench of the decomposing body. The man's head was covered with medical bandages, and his hands were bound behind his back.

In addition, the mutilated bodies of two unidentified men who appeared to have been tortured were found in a Volkswagen Jetta.

Mexican drug hitmen kill mayor in revenge attack

The Cartels are going back to their old ways again ! Notifying the Persons they intend to kill ! As for the mormon activist ,Benjamin LeBaron , who was murdered last week , why was he even there ? The mexican Military can't stop the killings what made him think he could ? Mexico , it gets better and better !
CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico (Reuters) - Suspected drug gang members killed the mayor of a ranching town in northern Mexico on Tuesday in a revenge attack for a mass arrest of hitmen that already sparked the murder of an American Mormon.

Gunmen shot dead Hector Meixueiro in his SUV as he drove to work in Namiquipa, Chihuahua state, in the latest brazen killing to challenge President Felipe Calderon's army-led clampdown on drug cartel violence.

The killing came the same day that drug gangs hung banners in the nearby border city of Ciudad Juarez blaming Meixueiro and the state attorney general for the arrest of 25 cartel hitmen last month.

Breakaway Mormon leader and anti-crime activist Benjamin LeBaron was murdered last week in Chihuahua for his alleged part in capturing the criminals, generating a wave of outrage among his Mexican-American community.

Last year, drug gangs killed the town treasurer in Namiquipa and kidnapped its police chief, who is still missing. Local media said the pair were targeted as revenge for other drug gang arrests in the area.

"Attorney General ... this time it is serious. We know you and the mayor of Namiquipa rounded up the 25 paramilitaries," read the banners hung across Ciudad Juarez on Tuesday.

Venezuela tells oil workers: join socialist groups

Come now Comrades , join our party our you will be considered a big problem ! And will be dealt with in an unpleasant way ! F**king Commies !
CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela's oil workers will be suspected of conspiring against President Hugo Chavez's socialist revolution if they do not join socialist workplace groups in the OPEC nation, the oil minister said on Tuesday.

Ramirez, who told oil workers to support Chavez ahead of his 2006 reelection, has long headed the president's drive to bring politics into Venezuela's main industry.

"By now, there should not be a single counter-revolutionary in the heart of our company, our industry," Ramirez said at a rally with workers taken on by state-oil company PDVSA after it nationalized dozens of oil service companies earlier this year.

"There cannot be a single PDVSA installation where socialist committees do not exist," he said. "Whoever is not in a committee will be suspected of conspiring against the revolution."

It is good to know that we have a commander of U.S forces that is confident in our abilities to handle whatever The Norks throw at us ! as for little Kimmie heading back to the Table for talks , I believe we are S.O.L. , With Kim jong-il being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer (Unconfirmed , yet confirmed ) I don't believe he will me doing much ! Can't say I feel for the Guy , You get what you Give ! The Straits Times
WASHINGTON - THE commander of US forces in South Korea said on Tuesday he was 'absolutely confident' of defending against any threat from communist North Korea.

General Walter Sharp said US and South Korean forces were ready to counter potential North Korean attacks ranging from a land invasion to cyber warfare to a missile launch aimed at the continental United States.

'I am absolutely confident that the capabilities that we and the Republic of Korea have are prepared for any threat,' Gen Sharp told a news conference in New York, which was video-linked to Washington.

North Korea has in recent months tested an atom bomb, launched missiles and bolted out of a six-nation agreement on ending its nuclear drive. Pyongyang is also a suspect in recent attacks against US and South Korean websites.

Gen Sharp declined comment on whether North Korea planned further tests or on speculation that the barrage of actions are linked to the failing health of North Korean strongman Kim Jong Il.

'All the governments around the world are hoping and pushing for Kim Jong Il to change his provocations,' Gen Sharp said.

Is tainted Chinese drywall radioactive?

Would not surprise me one bit ! China has definitely got a problem with the U.S and this could possibly be one of the ways of getting to us , Making us sick slowly and over a long period of time ! The Flood of tainted products from China is just incredible and something needs to be done about it ! Radioactive products ? Lead tainted toys for our kids , poisoned food for our pets ! What the fuck is next ?
BOYCOTT CHINA'S PRODUCTS !
ABC action news
TAMPA, FL -- Could tainted Chinese drywall contain radioactive matter? Local health officials and investigators say it's unlikely.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting drywall shipped to the United States by at least four Chinese firms contained a radioactive substance.

Wednesday, both the Florida Department of Health and local independent investigators say there is no basis to support the claims.

The Health Department says trace levels of radioactive matter were present in the first round of tests, but nothing that would exceed normal environmental conditions.

Following the reports, Senator Bill Nelson said “So far, the tests performed by the EPA and the state Department of Health have not detected radioactive materials in Chinese drywall samples from Florida,” said U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson. “But, based on these reports I’ve asked the EPA to go back and specifically look for this stuff.”

Health officials expect the results of their second round of air quality testing in late July or early August.

China's Hu abandons G8 as ethnic unrest continues

Sounds like things will settle down a little in China , though the unrest is just being swept under the Carpet for awhile ! ( Maybe Mick Has an explanation why the Han are pissed off at the Uighurs )
URUMQI, China (Reuters) - Paramilitary police fanned out in the far-flung Chinese city of Urumqi on Wednesday to try to stifle unrest days after 156 people were killed in the region's worst ethnic violence in decades.

Han Chinese took to the streets for the second day running, and even with helicopters overhead there were scuffles in at least one crowd of about 1,000 as police appeared to seize ringleaders, prompting cries of "release them."

Urumqi, capital of the northwestern region of Xinjiang, imposed a curfew the previous evening after thousands of Han Chinese armed with sticks, knives and metal bars stormed through the city seeking revenge against Muslim Uighurs for Sunday's violence.

The instability prompted President Hu Jintao to abandon plans to attend a G8 summit in Italy and return home to monitor developments in energy-rich Xinjiang, where 1,080 people were wounded in rioting and 1,434 arrested.

China says 140 dead in Xinjiang unrest

As  I said  " muslims are just not Happy "  The riots in China have grown worse with 140 dead now since last night , China will definitely clamp down on this area , they have already cut the internet , And have made a few Hundred  arrests with more to be expected.

URUMQI, China (Reuters) - At least 140 people have been killed in
rioting in the capital of China's northwestern region of Xinjiang, with
the government blaming exiled Muslim separatists for the area's worst
case of ethnic unrest in years.

Hundreds of rioters have been arrested, the official Xinhua news agency
reported, after rock-throwing Uighurs took to the streets of the
regional capital on Sunday, some burning and smashing vehicles and
confronting ranks of anti-riot police.

Urumqi residents were unable to access the Internet on Monday, several said.
"The city is basically under martial law," Yang Jin, a dried fruit
merchant, said by telephone.
The unrest underscores the volatile ethnic tensions that have accompanied
China's growing economic and political stake in its western frontiers.

A senior official swiftly delivered the government claim that the unrest
was the work of extremist forces abroad, signaling a security crackdown
in the strategic region near Pakistan and central Asia.

Li Zhi, the Communist Party boss of Urumqi told a news conference that the
death toll from the rioting had risen to 140, the semi-official China
News Agency said. Xinhua said 816 people were injured and hospitalized.

China's Internet backdown lauded by firms, activists

"This was the result of combined pressure from domestic Internet users and an array of forces at home and abroad," said Wen Yunchao, an editor at the popular Chinese website Netease (www.netease.com).

Yeah it could not have to do with the fact that green dam is a stolen software And the company that made the original software Solid Oaks , Ordered a Cease and Desist to all PC manufacturers (Except Mac ) and filed a claim against green dam and China !
One thing china is not and that is Original ,They Consistently steal software and Ideas from the U.S and other countries , They have launched Attacks on many Computer systems including the u.s. defense systems and one that involved some nasty viruses in e mail Attachments to Solid oak the maker of Cybersitter , the net nanny that china "renamed" Green Dam !Washington post /reuters
BEIJING - China's ambitions to strengthen control of the Internet with filtering software became a show of the limits of its power on Wednesday, as activists and industry groups welcomed AN abrupt delay of the contentious plan.

The surprise climbdown was reported late on Tuesday by Xinhua news agency, which said the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology would "delay the mandatory installation of the controversial 'Green Dam-Youth Escort' filtering software on new computers.

Officials said the software was intended to stamp out Internet pornography, and computer companies had originally been told that from Wednesday they had to bundle "Green Dam" with any personal computers heading to stores for sale in the country.

But the order was assailed by opponents of censorship, industry groups and Washington officials as rash, politically intrusive, technically ineffective and commercially unfair. [ID:nN24196133]. PC companies have mostly avoided making firm public statements on the issue.
