East African leaders urge UN to provide Somalia force

And again the U.N. is powerless to do anything here , mainly because they will never be able to get a "coalition" of countries to send troops into Somalia .

Why should anyone bother , when the U.N and the Somali Government are not willing to take the actions necessary to stop the Violence ?
That is Kill And eradicate Al Qaida and Al Shabaab !

East African leaders have renewed their calls to the UN to replace the beleaguered African Union (AU) peacekeeping mission in Somalia.

At a meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Somalia's president said a radical strategy to end almost two decades of crisis in the country was needed.

The leaders of the regional grouping Igad also agreed to deploy 2,000 more AU peacekeepers to help the government.

AU troops have been battling Islamists who control most of southern Somalia.

The UN-backed government only runs a few parts of the capital, Mogadishu.

Fighting continued in Mogadishu while the summit was being held, with at least five people killed when militants attacked government positions in the north of the city, officials say.
