The news websites of the BBC, CNN and Norwegian state broadcaster NRK have been blocked on mainland China the day before Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo is to be awarded the Nobel peace prize.
Attempts to access the three broadcasters' websites today were unsuccessful, with the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page" appearing on the screen according to the news agency AFP.
The ceremony honouring Liu – who is serving an 11-year sentence for "inciting subversion" – is due to take place in Norway's capital Oslo tomorrow.

Obama effect boosts Nobel Peace Prize nominations
The Obama Effect ?
WTF is next ?
Now we have to be subject to hearing the keepers of the Nobel peace Prize verbally dropping to their Knees for Obama , why ? who the hell Knows .
as if Obama is so Great now , that a flood of people are now eligible to get the Peace prize , all because of the one's Vast Greatness .
I'm feeling very ill at the moment , The thought that maybe Sean Penn or Danny Glover will be the Next recipients of the Tug and rub club honors from Oslo .
(Reuters) - A record 237 people and organizations have been nominated for the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize, with interest boosted by last year's award to President Barack Obama, organizers said on Wednesday.
The world's media focused on the Peace Prize after Obama was the unexpected choice for what some see as the world's highest accolade, although he had been in office for just nine months and critics said he had only spelt out visions of peace.
"This is the highest number of nominations ... last year's prize to Barack Obama has further enhanced interest in the prize," Geir Lundestad, head of the Norwegian Nobel Institute, told Reuters.
"There are many different roads to peace and there are many different types of nominations ... (including) humanitarian organizations, environmental organizations, all kinds of statesmen and organizations that work for disarmament," he said.
Nominations have closed for 2010 and the total, which includes 38 organizations, is the highest since last year, when 205 contenders were considered by the secretive Norwegian Nobel Committee. The long-term trend shows the number of nominations is growing, Lundestad said.
This year's candidates include Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, Chinese dissidents such as Liu Xiaobo, the Russian human rights group Memorial and its founder Svetlana Gannushkina, and the International Space Station programme.

Chavez says Obama did "nothing" to deserve Nobel
What ! A moment of Clarity From Hugo Chavez ?
Maybe so , but he is still a Jackass !
Maybe so , but he is still a Jackass !
....
CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela's socialist leader Hugo Chavez said on Sunday that U.S. President Barack Obama had done nothing beyond wishful thinking to earn the Nobel Peace Prize.
Chavez, who has mixed praise for Obama personally with criticism of his government's "imperialist" policies, said he thought it was a mistake when he read the U.S. leader had won.
"What has Obama done to deserve this prize? The jury put store on his hope for a nuclear arms-free world, forgetting his role in perpetuating his battalions in Iraq and Afghanistan, and his decision to install new military bases in Colombia," Chavez wrote in a column.
"For the first time, we are witnessing an award with the nominee having done nothing to deserve it: rewarding someone for a wish that is very far from becoming reality."
Chavez said giving Obama the Nobel award was like giving a baseball pitcher a prize simply for saying he was going to win 50 games and strike out 500 batters.
