State Dept Tweets B-Day Message to Ahmadinejad, Palin Responds

It is good to have a sense of Humor.
P.J. Crowley's tweet to Iranian pres, Ahmalitlmunky, was pretty funny if you look at it from the Mad short ones point of view.
Imagine Mahmoud rolling out of bed to check his Twitter account to see if anyone tweeted him some Birthday wishes.

Unfortunately Pres Ahmalitlmunky , was unable to Tweet back to his tweets until the next day,he was quite busy spanking little boys and fondling goats all day long, he says it was unavoidable, he is sorry, and he will make up for it the next time .

WASHINGTON -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's top spokesman, P.J. Crowley, sent a birthday message to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad via Twitter Friday, prompting a response by former Governor Sarah Palin who described the post as "mind boggling foreign policy."

Crowley posted two short messages directed at the Iranian president, who turned 54 this week.

"Happy birthday President Ahmadinejad," the first tweet reads. "Celebrate by sending Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer home. What a gift that would be."

Fattal and Bauer were arrested near the Iranian border with Iraq in July of 2009 and have been held in Iran since on charges of espionage." Crowley has called for their return on nearly a daily basis, insisting they are innocent.

The second tweets reads: "Your 54th year was full of lost opportunities. Hope in your 55th year you will open Iran to a different relationship with the world."

Sarah Palin took issue with the message. Shortly after Crowley's post appeared she wrote, "Happy B'day Ahmadinejad wish sent by US Govt. Mind boggling foreign policy: kowtow & coddle enemies; snub allies. Obama Doctrine is nonsense."

Her message continued in a separate tweet: "Americans awaken 2 bizarre natl security thinking of Obama Admn: Ahmadinejad b'day greeting after call 4 Israel's destruction speaks volumes."

The State Department has not delivered diplomatic assistance to the widow of a man shot down by drug lords while on a jet ski trip on the U.S.-Mexico border, U.S. Rep. Ted Poe said Wednesday.

Poe, R-Texas, whose district contains the U.S. side of border-straddling Falcon Lake, said Tiffany Hartley did not even receive help from the U.S. consulate in Mexico to file a complaint against members of the Zeta drug cartel that is suspected of shooting David Hartley while the couple was skiing through the Mexican side of the border weeks ago.

"There seems to be inefficiency on this issue. She shouldn't have to be filing charges" on her own, Poe said, noting that the Mexican authorities were slow to help Hartley in part because they said she made no official complaint to the proper authorities.

The State Department has also been "blissfully silent" on efforts to convince the Mexican authorities to let U.S. investigators help search for Hartley's body, Poe told FoxNews.com. The department must convince Mexican officials to let the FBI and U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency investigators help conduct the search for Hartley's body and for the culprits, he said.

U.S. announces $200 million in aid to Palestinians

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Friday there had been some progress toward reviving Israeli-Palestinian peace talks in the "near future" and announced $200 million in U.S. aid to the Palestinians.

Clinton said the money, which is part of a $900 million pledge she made in March at a donors conference in Egypt, was transferred directly to the Western-backed Palestinian Authority and would help it meet a budget shortfall.

The infusion of U.S. funds comes ahead of a visit this weekend to Israel and the Palestinian territories by U.S. special envoy George Mitchell, who is trying to create conditions to get stalled talks resumed between both sides.

"I believe we are making progress to create the environment for a successful resumption of negotiations in the near future," Clinton said at a news conference, without providing a timeline of when talks could resume and under what conditions.

Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad appeared via video link-up from the West Bank and thanked the United States for the financial help.

Mexico rules out joint border patrols with U.S.

Man am I really getting tired of this one ,  If it is the U.S. fault that the drug cartels fight and kill each other over control of drug corridors , because we Are their biggest Purchasers of their product !   Then why the hell is it also our fault that they buy illegal guns and use them in their crimes ?   they sell , we buy , our fault !     we sell , they buy , our fault again ???

LONDON (Reuters) - Mexico will cooperate with the United States in sharing intelligence to fight drug trafficking but does not plan joint patrols with U.S. forces, President Felipe Calderon said Monday.

"We do have to work together but that does not imply the joint participation in military operations or even a joint participation of law enforcement agents," Calderon said at a press conference during a state visit to London.

The Mexican president said forces from both sides of the border should share information to try to stem the flow of illegal drugs and tackle the gangs who supply them.

The United States has stepped up security on the border with Mexico after new President Barack Obama  put Mexico's drug war high on his agenda.

Crushing the drug cartels, who arm themselves with smuggled U.S. weapons and leave slain rivals in public streets, has become the biggest test of Calderon's presidency as the bloodshed rattles investors and tourists.

Calderon noted that the U.S. demand for drugs and the availability of guns there were fuelling the violence.

"Violence and organized crime is not only a problem for Mexico, and it has been acknowledged by President Obama, this is a common problem," he said.

"It has to do with the fact that our border is the border with the largest drug market in the world and with the main producer and seller of guns in the world," he added.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton acknowledged last week during a visit to Mexico that an insatiable appetite for illegal drugs in the United States was to blame for much of the violence in its southern neighbor.
