U.S. Intercepts North Korean Ship Carrying Missiles to Burma

The Norks up to the same old crap again, you would think they would not even try anymore but they still do.

The US Navy intercepted a North Korean ship suspected of carrying missiles to Burma, forcing it to return to the rogue nuclear state, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported Monday.

The vessel, The Light, was Sunday reported to have returned to North Korea after drifting in international waters.

Gary Samore, the special assistant to President Barack Obama for arms control and weapons of mass destruction, said the US suspected that the vessel was heading to Burma to deliver military equipment such as small arms and missile-related items, according to the report.

Not being an expert on Missiles or Anything, But I did spend Two years working at the Fort Bliss Army base in Texas/New Mexico.
I personally witnessed Patriot Missile Launches(From a distance)along with several other Missiles that are tested on their Firing ranges !
This was nothing but a Missile, Jet's do not leave a Contrail, and they don't make Vertical Takeoffs.

According to a post on ContrailScience.com, the visible exhaust from a jet engine, a trail of condensed water vapor called a contrail, resembles a missile trail when seen from some angles.

The confusion between a missile launch and a jet plane launch is caused by several common misconceptions, the site notes, explaining that the angle of launch, the direction of flight, and even the shape of the Earth can lead to the illusion. And indeed, when you look at certain images of jet launches, they do look a fair bit like missiles.

(Reuters) - The White House expressed concern on Wednesday about allegations Syria has transferred long-range Scud missiles to the Lebanese guerrilla group Hezbollah and said it had raised the issue at the highest level.

"We are obviously increasingly concerned about the sophisticated weaponry that ... is allegedly being transferred," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters. "We have expressed our concerns to those governments."

Gibbs was responding to a question about a Wall Street Journal report, citing Israeli and U.S. officials, saying that that Syria has transferred Scuds to Hezbollah in a move that threatens to alter the Middle East military balance.

SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea has declared a no-sail zone off its west coast, indicating it may be readying to test-launch missiles in the area, South Korean news broadcaster YTN on Tuesday quoted a military official as saying.

The area is near a contested sea border with the South that was the site of a brief naval clash in November between the states, technically still at war, that left a South Korean ship pockmarked with bullet holes and a North Korean vessel limping back to port in flames.

About a month before that clash, North Korea rattled regional security by firing short-range missiles off its east coast.

"We are closely monitoring the area to inspect whether this announcement was made as a part of their winter training or to launch short-range missiles," the unnamed official told YTN.

South Korean military officials said they were checking on the YTN report.

Destitute North Korea in recent weeks has signaled that it is ready to reduce the security threat it poses to economically vital North Asia by saying it could end its year-long boycott of international nuclear disarmament talks

So seeing as how they would like to get back to talks ( ? ) It's time for them to launch a few missiles ?

News of the nuclear fuel facility south of Tehran added a sense of urgency to a meeting in Geneva on Thursday between Iranian officials and representatives of six major powers, including the United States, China and Russia...

Iran's English language Press TV said the Shahab 3, a surface-to-surface missile, was "successfully" test-fired on the second day of an exercise that got under way on Sunday, when short and medium-range missiles were launched.

"All targets within the region, no matter where they are, will be within the range of these missiles," General Hossein Salami, commander of the Guards' air force, said according to Guards website.

Iran's Foreign Ministry said there was no link between the missile maneuvers and the country's nuclear activities. "This is a military drill which is deterrent in nature," spokesman Hassan Qashqavi told a news conference broadcast by Press TV. "There is no connection whatsoever with the nuclear programme."

North Korea chemical weapons threaten region

Some more doomsday talk about North Korea , Chemical weapons and possibly biological weapons , along with the possibility of a nuclear warhead ! Spooky , isn't it ! And if they have been developing Chemical and Biological weapons , isn't that a violation of the sanctions that have been brought upon them in the Past ?

SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea has several thousand tonnes of chemical weapons it can mount on missiles that could be used on a rapid strike against the South, said a report released on Thursday by the International Crisis Group (ICG)
The report from the prestigious non-governmental organization said the consensus view is the North's army possess about 2,500-5,000 tonnes of chemical weapons that include mustard gas, sarin and other deadly nerve agents.

"If there is an escalation of conflict and if military hostilities break out, there is a risk that they could be used. In conventional terms, North Korea is weak and they feel they might have to resort to using those," said Daniel Pinkston, the ICG's representative on Seoul.
"The stockpile does not appear to be increasing but is already sufficient to inflict massive civilian casualties on South Korea," the ICG report said.

The report said North Korea has also worked on a biological weapons program but Pinkston does not think Pyongyang has fully developed that weapons program.

In a separate report released simultaneously, the ICG said North Korea has deployed more than 600 Scud-type missiles that can hit all of South Korea and as many as 320 Rodong missiles that can strike Japan.

The ICG said earlier this year intelligence it acquired indicates the North has developed a nuclear warhead it could mount on an Rodong missile, and this latest report repeats the claim.
