Flint is arguably the most dangerous city in Michigan (yes worse than Detroit) Mismanaged for years by a strong Democratic base, it is absolutely a shithole; and also Michael moores hometown.

(Reuters) - Michigan Governor Rick Snyder approved a state takeover of the city of Flint on Tuesday, following a review team's assessment earlier in the month that the city, a former manufacturing hub for the auto industry, is in a financial emergency.
Snyder named Michael K. Brown, a former mayor of Flint, as the emergency financial manager for the city.
Flint is now the fifth municipality in Michigan to come under a state-appointed manager. The move comes as Detroit, the state's biggest city, struggles with fiscal problems that have already threatened to take it down the same road.

Christian call to prayer riles Muslims
Typical of radical Muslim loving Muslims. Dawud (I'm a real douchebag) Walid, would rather not see a christian prayer gathering in Dearbornistan especially one that addresses some of the problems in the area and the world.
If you have a pulse and you refuse to see what is happening in the world you might be a Douchebag too ! It takes a minimal amount of time to watch the news to see that in the Islamic World; their is some problems, it is painfully obvious.
Just look at all the firebombings, suicide attacks, Suicide bombings...
For Duhwud to deny this and get his panties in a bunch and call for all Mosques to elevate their security instead of joining the Prayer gig, and speaking out against the Violence in Detroit and the world that is carried out by bad people regardless of their beliefs; is nothing short of pure Ignorance.

Dearborn — The local head of a national Muslim civil rights group says a Christian prayer summit to be held at Ford Field next week promotes anti-Muslim sentiment and is warning local mosques to step up their security.
Dawud Walid, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations — Michigan, met Wednesday with Muslim activists to voice his concern over the rhetoric he fears could be at the center of the event Nov. 11.
"There's a bigger force or movement behind this prayer summit and how they're literally demonizing Muslims," he said.
But Metro Detroit pastors involved in the event say the gathering is merely meant to help Detroit, not target Muslims.
"I don't know anything about that," said Bishop Edgar Vann of Second Ebenezer Church. "People are coming here to pray for our city and that's what I'm concerned about. Christians will be praying, but it's open to anyone."

Military jets safely escort NYC, Detroit flights
There will always be those idiots who do stupid ass shit and think that there is nothing wrong.
The next time these idiots fly they should be hauled off for a body cavity search.

Fighter jets were scrambled to escort two commercial flights into New York City and Detroit "out of an abundance of caution" after crews reported suspicious activity on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, officials said.
The bathroom use by some passengers aroused the suspicion Sunday, but all were released after being questioned by authorities on the ground.
On an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles, three passengers who made repeated trips to the bathroom were cleared after the plane safely landed at New York's Kennedy Airport.
Earlier, on a Denver-to-Detroit Frontier Airlines flight, the crew reported that two people were spending "an extraordinarily long time" in a bathroom, Frontier spokesman Peter Kowalchuck said. Police detained three passengers at Detroit's Metropolitan Airport, but they also were eventually released.
Asked late Sunday if authorities may have overreacted, airport spokesman Scott Wintner said the airport's response wasn't unusual and the same steps would have been taken any other day of the year.
"Regardless of why it was triggered, whenever we get a radio call of a security problem on board, our response is the same one we would have had yesterday, tomorrow," Wintner said.
"We always react as if it's the end of the world," he added. "If it isn't, so be it."

While working in Texas for two years, I did a lot of site seeing everywhere you go in El Paso beyond the city is a border patrol check station, I was asked the same line of questions as Mr.Arguellas Jr. and at times made to feel like a criminal; the border agents where doing their jobs in both cases.
No offense Mr. Arguellas, but blame your people flooding into the U.S. illegally for this situation, the Border agents where doing their job, And think for a second... how does a border agent find illegal aliens from Mexico without looking at Mexicans.

Rash of bomb scares is keeping Detroit squad busy
A new trend in Detroit? I have noticed there have been an increase in reports of suspicious pakages, and bombs lately, NOT in Detroit because you would not want the people around here to Know!
You might as well keep people in the dark over something like this.

The Detroit Police Bomb Squad has been called out about 25 times since the beginning of the year -- compared with about eight by this time last year, said Inspector Don Johnson Jr., who is in charge of homeland security, which oversees the bomb squad.
Sometimes, investigations reveal there was no threat. But increasingly, the squad -- which also assists other communities in the region -- is discovering explosive or incendiary materials when it has to render a suspicious device or object safe, Johnson said.

17 Arsons, 4 Days, 1 Detroit Neighborhood
Burning down the houses in Detroit, usually a Halloween pastime (Devils Night) but when the houses sit vacant bad things happen in them.
Crackheads, vagrants and gangs like to hang out in them, they party sell drugs rape the neighborhood girls.
Burning them down is a way to prevent it.

The neighborhood is under attack by a fire bug, hit by 17 arson fires in four days. The people who remain are begging authorities for help, MyFoxDetroit.com reports.
"They started like two fires the other day, back to back. The firemen left, then there was another one that started. So it was really bad," resident Charlita Kreft said.
The fire starter is making his rounds on Detroit's east side where now there are literally just shells of houses on some blocks.
"To have an area that has been so hard hit in the past, we had a few fires back in August that really hit the area badly, and then to just have the number of fires that keep happening and happening. The majority of the fires have been proven to be arson," Detroit Fire Capt. Steve Kirschner told MyFoxDetroit.com.

U.S. probe to look at border concerns of Muslims
Not that any Muslims that lives in Metro Detroit aren't rude and Obnoxious people to any one other than a Muslim!

Not that because of what some Muslims did on 9/11 has not changed how we need to be, and a continuing threat from Muslims trying to come into the United States to commit acts of terrorism cause us to be cautious as to protect everyone, (Including Muslims)
I find that usually the people that are constantly "Checked" by immigration and customs, are very rude and uncooperative to begin with!

The U.S. government has launched an investigation into allegations that federal agents at several U.S.-Canada border crossings in Michigan repeatedly harassed, jailed and body searched Muslims because of their background or appearance.
In a letter sent this week to a local Muslim group, Margo Schlanger, the head of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties in the Department of Homeland Security, said her office has received accounts of "repeated handcuffing, brandishing of weapons, prolonged detentions, invasive and humiliating body searches at the border, and inappropriate questioning that pertains to religion and religious practices."
The complaints include incidents at the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit and the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron.
The investigation comes in response to complaints filed in March by the Council on American-Islamic Relations with the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security.
The council said it was concerned that agents were even asking people about their prayer schedules.

One way to fix some of America's problems -- and re-populate Detroit - would be to send immigrants to live and work in the Motor City, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said today, creating a buzz in the community.
"Take a look at the big old industrial cities, Detroit for example," Bloomberg said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "They've a great mayor, Mayor (Dave) Bing, but the population has left. You've got to do something about that.
"And if I were the federal government, assuming we could wave a magic wand and pull everybody together, you pass a law letting immigrants come in as long as they agree to go to Detroit and live there for five to 10 years,start businesses, take jobs or whatever," Bloomberg said .
"You would populate Detroit overnight because half the world wants to come here … you could use immigration policy at no cost to the country to fix a lot of the problems that we have."

U.P. man headed to court over explosive found at Detroit federal building

An engineering graduate from Michigan Technological University who blames the government for his father's death will appear in federal court in Marquette today on charges that he tried to blow up the McNamara Federal Building in Detroit.
Gary Mikulich, 42, of Kingsford, who allegedly claimed he was once the "nominated president of the United States," was arrested Thursday after federal agents linked him to a suspicious tool bag found Feb. 26 at the federal building.
According to the criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court, an FBI employee noticed the tool bag that had been abandoned outside the McNamara Building and reported it to building security.
For an unknown reason, security officers with Federal Protective Services kept the bag for more than three weeks. On March 18, a security officer ran the bag through an X-ray machine and noticed "wires, electrical components and dense masses," the complaint said.

Detroit has become one of the nation's "new frontiers" for Medicare fraud with many scams run by operators fleeing a federal crackdown in Miami.
Authorities say operators use recruiters to target poor men on Detroit streets, at soup kitchens and in homeless shelters. They shuttle them in vans to clinics set up for the scams or run by licensed providers trying to bilk the system for bogus treatments or for care never rendered or needed. Operators take their Medicare information in exchange for $50 or more.
Detroit's unemployment rate makes it a particularly vulnerable target. Authorities have identified at least $120 million in fraudulent billings in metro Detroit.
The businesses investigated include physical therapy clinics, home health care agencies, medical equipment providers and podiatry offices. More regulation and prosecution is needed, some attorneys say.
"It's like banks without an alarm system," said David Haron, a Troy attorney who specializes in Medicare and Medicaid fraud, referring to the ease with which some medical businesses are established.

Dearborn— Some 50 demonstrators gathered this afternoon on the steps of Dearborn City Hall to call for an end to anti-government protests in Yemen and send a message to President Barack Obama.
The mostly male rallygoers carried American and Yemeni flags and chanted unity slogans. A picture of Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh was raised above the crowd.
"We support our President Ali Abdullah Saleh. We need one Yemen and we support our scholars to advise him for dialogue and free elections, no war," said business owner Nabil Al Ghaithi, 38, a Yemeni-American who lives in Dearborn. "President Obama: Support Yemen and the free election in Yemen."
"We are trying to demonstrate that we want peace in Yemen," said Abdul Rahman El Haj, a 33-year-old autoworker who lives in Dearborn. "We do not want bloodshed over there, like in Libya. And it could get even worse than Libya, because everybody over there has their own weapons. It would be a massacre."

Four Detroit police officers shot inside precinct
Things are heating up in Detroit.

A gunman walked into a Detroit police precinct this afternoon and shot a commander and three other officers before he was killed, police sources confirmed.
Cmdr. Brian Davis, in charge of the 6th precinct, was shot in the hand and side and was undergoing surgery this evening, a police source said. Officer David Anderson was shot in the head but is alert and talking and moving his limbs, the source said.
Other reports indicate two other officers were grazed by gunfire and suffered minor wounds.
Police said the man was armed with a small shotgun.
The victims were taken to nearby Sinai Grace Hospital shortly after the 4:30 p.m. shooting. Detroit Mayor Dave Bing and Police Chief Ralph Godbee arrived at the hospital early this evening to visit the wounded.

Sunday's shooting capped off a bloody weekend that saw at least 10 people shot since Friday night — four at the precinct, three outside a strip club, and three murder victims found in a house in the 14000 block of Faircrest.
The shooting occurred at the 6th Precinct, just west of the Southfield Freeway and south of Interstate 96. Like most precincts in the city, there are no metal detectors in the entrance and visitors can come in and talk face-to-face with officers.

A gunman walked into a Detroit police precinct this afternoon and shot a commander and three other officers before he was killed, police sources confirmed.
Cmdr. Brian Davis, in charge of the 6th precinct, was shot in the hand and side and was undergoing surgery this evening, a police source said. Officer David Anderson was shot in the head but is alert and talking and moving his limbs, the source said.
Other reports indicate two other officers were grazed by gunfire and suffered minor wounds.
Police said the man was armed with a small shotgun.

Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox has filed a civil lawsuit against a cousin of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, alleging she used thousands of dollars of charitable money to cover personal expenses, including jewelry, a restaurant tab at the Roostertail, a veterinary bill and bridal expenses.
According to the lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Ingham County Circuit Court, Nneka Cheeks, while employed by the mayor, diverted $25,000 from the Manoogian Mansion Restoration Society's bank account for her own personal use. The charitable fund, which Cheeks had access to, was supposed to be used to help preserve and restore the Manoogian.
Instead, the lawsuit claims, Cheeks dipped into the fund and withdrew more than $7,000 in cash and made roughly $17,000 in questionable payments to third parties, including:
• $3,943.40 to Pioneer Credit Recovery.
• $3,590 to the Roostertail restaurant in Detroit.
• $2,631.06 to Jewelry Factory in Livonia.
• $2,500 to Florida-based golf academy Leadbetter Orlando.
• $1,300 to Michigan Veterinary Specialists.
• $1,140 to Brides Made Fit.
The civil complaint asks the court to order Cheeks to account for the funds she handled, to return the money and to pay damages in the amount of triple the sum she is alleged to have diverted.
As of late Friday, Cheeks had not yet been served because Cox's office could not locate her.
A call to her home by the Free Press was met with an expletive and then a hang-up.

State Sen. Hansen Clarke staged a stunning upset victory Tuesday night over seven-term Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick.
With 53% of the overall district results in, Clarke had a 48-39% lead over the incumbent, who was first elected to Congress in 1996.
A subdued crowd at Kilpatrick's election night party at the Doubletree Fort Shelby in downtown Detroit waited for the final numbers to roll in, hoping that absentee ballots in Detroit might reverse the trend.
"You don't start dancing," said Kilpatrick supporter Sharon McPhail, a former Detroit city councilwoman. "You have to wait for the absentees."
At Clarke's party at the Centaur Bar in Detroit, the crowd cheered as Clarke greeted supporters. He said the election was a reflection of the power of the people of Michigan.
"This was bigger than an opponent and not about the incumbent or a family," Clarke said. "For decades, people have run for office to serve themselves, their family and not the people of the city. You must be mindful that elected officials come and go, but people, not politicians, always have the power."

Detroit school board president accused of sex act in meeting
“He’s a young man; maybe he didn’t know it was offensive to her,” Murray said of the 55-year-old Mathis. “It’s not something I would do. He’s a young man. That’s just the way it is.”
This goes to show that the Detroit Educational system is really of it's rocker .

Otis Mathis, president of the Detroit Board of Education, is accused of fondling himself in a meeting Wednesday with the general superintendent, according to documents obtained by the Free Press.
DPS Superintendent Teresa Gueyser alleges that during a meeting at about 5 p.m. Wednesday that Mathis touched himself for 20 minutes during a conversation about today’s scheduled board meeting.
Mathis resigned following the incident, effective immediately. In his resignation letter, he cited health issues as the reason for his resignation. However, he is seeking to rescind his resignation, board members said.
At least one DPS board member said today he has no problem with Mathis remaining on the board amid allegations that he fondled himself in a meeting with the superintendent.
Reverend David Murray said Mathis took responsibility for his bad behavior toward Gueyser.

Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick entered the Michigan state prison system today after being sentenced to 1½ to five years for violating his probation.
His imprisonment, imposed today by Wayne County Circuit Judge David Groner, also cost Kilpatrick his job.
“Kwame Kilpatrick will be off the Compuware Corporation payroll at the end of the month," said a company statement. "We don’t have any choices. It’s an unfortunate situation, and we feel bad for his family, but our hands are tied.”
Leaders across metro Detroit also called the situation unfortunate, but they said it was time to move on.
Earlier, a frustrated Groner ordered Kilpatrick to serve 18 months to five years in prison, declaring that Kilpatrick had lied while on probation and maliciously hid money that was supposed to go toward repaying the City of Detroit $1 million in restitution.
“Your testimony in this court amounted to perjury,” Groner said, alluding to the ex-mayor’s explanations for how hundreds of thousands of dollars passed through his family’s bank accounts without being accounted for, or applied to, Kilpatrick’s restitution obligations.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office is recommending a sentence of 2-5 years in prison for former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick for violating his probation from the text message scandal by failing to meet financial reporting obligations and not turning over tax refunds and political money.
The recommendation was made in a sentencing memorandum filed this afternoon with the court clerk’s office.
The memo states that the sentencing guideline of 0-17 months “does not adequately reflect the severity of his conduct.” It goes on to state that “the defendant cannot show any rehabilitative potential when he continuously lies to the court and indeed has defrauded the court and the City of Detroit out of its rightfully owed restitution payments.”
In his sentencing memo, defense lawyer Michael Alan Schwartz said it’s best for everyone – except the former mayor’s most bitter haters – to keep Kilpatrick outside and drumming up sales for Covisint, a subsidiary of Detroit-based Compuware, so he can pay the city.
But he has been working , and he still is not paying

Seven arrested in FBI raids linked to Christian militia group From The Detroit Area
O.k. so it was not the Michigan Militia we all know and love , It was a radical christian militia preparing for Battle with the Anti Christ .

At least seven people, including some from Michigan, have been arrested in raids by a FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana as part of an investigation into an Adrian-based Christian militia group, a person familiar with the matter said.
The suspects are expected to make an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Detroit on Monday.
On Sunday, a source close to the investigation in Washington, D.C. confirmed that FBI agents were conducting activities in Washtenaw and Lenawee counties over the weekend in connection to Hutaree, a Christian militia group. Detroit FBI Special Agent Sandra Berchtold told The Detroit News the federal warrants in the case are under court seal and declined further comment.
Sources have said the FBI was in the second day of raids around the southeastern Michigan city of Adrian that are connected to a militia group, known as the Hutaree, an Adrian-based group whose members describe themselves as Christian soldiers preparing for the arrival and battle with the anti-Christ.
WXYZ-TV reports that helicopters were spotted in the sky for much of Saturday night, and agents set up checkpoints throughout the area. Witnesses told the station that it was like a small army had descended on the area. The Department of Homeland Security and the Joint Terrorism Task Force are also involved in the raids.
Mike Lackomar, of Michiganmilitia.com, said both The Southeast Michigan Volunteer Militia and the Michiganmilitia.com were not a part of the raid.
Lackomar said he heard from other militia members that the FBI targeted the Hutaree after its members made threats of violence against Islamic organizations.
"Last night and into today the FBI conducted a raid against homes belonging to the Hutaree. They are a religious cult. They are not part of our militia community," he said.
Lackomar said he was told there were five arrests Saturday and another five early Sunday. The FBI declined to comment.
One of the Hutaree members called a Michigan militia leader for assistance Saturday after federal agents had already began their raid, Lackomar said, but the militia member -- who is of Islamic decent and had heard about the threats -- declined to offer help. That Michigan militia leader is now working with federal officials to provide information on the Hutaree member for the investigation, Lackomar said Sunday.
"They are more of survivalist group and in an emergency they withdraw and stand their ground. They are actively training to be alongside Jesus," he said.
